Animeals Pet Food Pantry

Animeals provides pet food to pet owners in need on a short-term, emergency basis. The Animeals pet food pantry is stocked through the generosity of our donors.

To be eligible for Animeals participation, clients’ pets must be vaccinated and altered. Clients are encouraged to take advantage of HSP’s low cost vaccine and spay/neuter services, if necessary.

Care For Life

Our Care for Life program allows you the peace of mind to know that your pets will be cared for when you are no longer able to do so yourself.  After an owner’s death or incapacitation, beloved pets are sometimes forgotten, given to a friend or relative who may not be able to care for another pet, or surrendered to a shelter with no background information or medical history.  Through our Care for Life program, we will assist you in making the best possible arrangements to ensure the future of your pets. For more information, contact Kelly Hodges at Kelly@HumanePinellas.org or (727) 797-7722 x226.

Continued Care

Qualified pet owners facing emergency circumstances may receive temporary boarding for their pet.  For more information call (727) 797-7722 x223.

Humane Euthanasia and Cremation

We understand that the decision to say goodbye to a pet is a difficult and heart wrenching one.  When the time comes, we will be there to help you and your pet by performing humane euthanasia at your request.

Fees vary based on the weight of the pet: euthanasia and cremation for pets less than 40 pounds is $50; for pets 40 pounds and up, the fee is $100.  If you prefer, the pet may be cremated individually and the ashes returned to you in a tasteful urn for $50 more. Please note that proof of ownership is required at check-in.

If your pet has passed away at home, we also offer cremation only.  Please call for cremation-only fees. Appointments are preferred for humane euthanasia requests; please contact our Admissions Office at Admissions@HumanePinellas.org or (727) 797-7722 x4 and a caring Medical Specialist will schedule your pet’s appointment and answer any questions you may have.

Lost & Found

HSP operates a lost and found file for local pets who have wandered away from home.  If you have lost or found a pet, call (727) 797-7722 x2 to file a report.

For information about other pets, email Admissions@HumanePinellas.org or call (727) 797-7722 x4.

You may want to rehome your pet yourself, rather than surrender her to a shelter. Click here for our free Rehoming Assistance service, which gives you access to potential adopters and tools to help guide you through the rehoming process.

Pet Loss Support

We understand the heartache and grief involved when it comes time to say goodbye to a beloved pet.  HSP has partnered with the Pinellas Animal Foundation to host a monthly Pet Loss Support Group led by professional grief counselors.

The group meets at HSP once per month.  Meetings are free and anyone is welcome to attend.  For more information or for support by phone, please contact the Pinellas Animal Foundation at (727) 347-7387.

Animal Ambulance

Our Animal Ambulance operates 8 am to 4 pm 7 days a week to pick up injured and sick stray pets & wildlife in north Pinellas County. If you have found a sick or injured stray animal in north Pinellas County during regular business hours, please call our Admissions Office at (727) 797-7722 x4.

Pet-Friendly Emergency Shelter

Pinellas County has three Pet-Friendly Emergency Shelters to house residents needing to evacuate with their dogs or cats.  HSP operates and staffs the shelter located at Dunedin Middle School, in cooperation with Pinellas County Animal Services.  To stay in a Pet-Friendly Emergency Shelter you must pre-register with Pinellas County Animal Services! Pre-registration forms and pet preparedness information are available at http://www.pinellascounty.org/emergency/petpreparedness.htm.
